V-Day

I LOVE Valentines Day. I love that I have 2 little girls...and well, let's be honest. Valentines is kind of a girly holiday.  So I wanted to make sure that my cute little girls felt special ALL day long.  But, what I also love about Valentines is that my husband is a total romantic. I know most guys hate Valentines, but Chris is pretty cute when V-day comes around (he totally won't admit it), but he's the man when it comes to surprising me!

The night before Valentines I was pretty giddy as I got everything set up for the girls special Valentines breakfast.

On the MENU:
Cocoa Puffs cereal (their favorite) served in heart bowls
Cinnamon french toast sticks, with syrup served in heart containers
Strawberry milk served in special Valentines cups with heart straws
....and a few special treats to make them smile!

Eva is at the age where it's impossible to capture a picture without her making some kind of crazy face. I love it!

I had a bunch of pinterest projects I wanted to accomplish for Valentines, and I only managed to get a couple done. That's better than none, right? I don't even know if I should call this one a craft since it only required a pair of scissors. But, hey, at least I can mark off this one from my pinterest to do list.  I love all the subway art they have, so I printed this one off. Seriously, what would we do without pinterest?
The MENU for lunch:
Pink Mac N' Cheese (little did I know how hard it was to turn something from Orange to pink)
Red Apples
Red Soda
Chocolate Covered Valentine Oreos (thanks to Grandma and Granpda M.)

Then the girls got to open their Valentines from Grandma and Grandpa M.
3-D Valentines Cards...they thought it was pretty cool!

Every year my mom buys me an Alvey's caramel chocolate heart (they are my favorite). And every year I tell myself that I will take a little taste here and there and make it last a few days....because these things are gigantic!  And EVERY year I end up eating the entire thing in  a day and EVERY year I realize that I have NO self control. None!!!!
Isabella was so excited to go to Preschool that afternoon because she was so excited to exchange Valentines.  She came home and was on cloud 9 going through all her fun Valentines.

This year it was my year to be in charge of Chris and I's Valentine Date. Some years we make it simple and we just go to dinner and a movie.  But the years that someone is in charge, it makes it extra special because one of us has to get real creative.  Like I mentioned before, Chris is so good and surprises and being romantic, so I was a little stressed about coming up with the "perfect" Valentines Date. But, after I pondered for a couple weeks what I should do, I was sooooo excited to surprise him.  Chris asked me for like a week what I was doing, and I would just grin and tell him he was NEVER going to guess.

Chris LOVES to look at the stars.  There are some nights (in the summer) that after we get the kids put to bed, we will throw a blanket on the lawn and just sit and stare at the stars and have the funnest conversations.  Since it's winter and star gazing is a little impractical I came up with a "faux" star gazing date.  The girls helped me get this all set up, they were pretty excited that I was surprising dad!  All I told Chris on Valentines morning was that he had to leave his truck at home, take the car, and only enter through the front door when he arrived back home.  Of course his mind was going all day and he called me a few times with a few different guesses of what he thought we were doing to do. I think he was pretty convinced that we were going to make Valentine Crafts in the garage! Cuz, I'm romantic like that, LOL!

So I bought him one of those night lights that shines stars onto the ceiling.  They really are the coolest little toys! I backed his truck up into the garage (I totally managed to back the truck up into the freezer...go figure!) I put our air mattress in the back of the truck and filled it up.  I thew a whole bunch of pillows and blankets out.  And, then I had the DVD player ready for a movie and some sparkliing cider and homemade smores.

Chris's cute little night light.  Okay, it's a litlte girly, but he totally loved it!
The girls helped me whip up a batch of homemade smores before Chris came home from work.  Yum!
Eva multi tasking while she helped stir the ooey gooey goodness into the Golden Grahams.

And, the cute Valentines we made for Grandma and Grandpa H.

The MENU for dinner:
Heart shaped pizza (thank you Papa Murpheys!)
After dinner, Grandma and Gradpa H. came to surprise the girls with some Valentines. They LOVED the singing dogs!!

The night ended with an amazing night of star gazing and snuggling.

I coudln't get a good picture of what the garage looked like with the stars, but it was really cool since our garage is pitch black.  The kids were so bummed they had to go to bed, because they really wanted to come watch movies with us.  It was so cute, they kept the whole thing a secret...I was so proud of them.  When I tucked Isa into bed, she told me to have so much fun watching a movie with dad. It was cute she was so excited about the surprise for dad!

And even though it was my year to surprise Chris, he still managed to completely catch me off guard with tickets to the Nickelback concert. Seriously, how cool is my husband?
It was the perfect Valentines.  I sure love my little family!
