Eva's new "do"

Well some of you may have caught a glimpse of our crazy weekend on facebook. Here is the entire story. Yesterday started as a WONDERFUL Saturday morning. We went outside to put together our new patio set. I have been dying to have a patio set all summer, but we waited until they went on sale. So, I was soooo excited that we finally had one and was getting it all set up. While Chris was pulling everything out of the boxes he asked me to help him cut off all the cardboard from the chairs. So, I came inside and grabbed some scissors. IMPORTANT NOTE: The scissors are located in a cupboard way way high-so the kids don't have access to them. Why you might ask? I have feared that if they got their little hands on a pair of scissors-someones hair would come up missing. So, I grabbed the scissors and started cutting the cardboard off the chairs. I had an A.D.D. moment and realized I had forgot to water the lawn-we just planted some new seed in a couple areas....and it has to be watered every 3 hours. So, I hurried and ran to the front of the yard to water. I was gone maybe 5 minutes. I came back to the backyard and I asked him if he borrowed my scissors, he said, "NO!" Immediately I knew exactly where the scissors were-and I was fearing the worst. I called up to the girls-they were hiding up in their clubhouse in the tunnel. Sure enough I hear, "Mom, I have the scissors and I cut Eva's hair." I yelled for them to come down. I saw that the left side of Eva's hair was completely missing and the right side were those beautiful curls. I started pacing, my heart start beating uncontrollably fast, and all I could do was say, "I'm gonna cry, I'm gonna cry, I'm gonna cry." Meanwhile, Chris is laughing uncontrollably. However I was finding it hard to see the humor as much as my husband.

I was freaking out so bad, all I could do was put Isa in a timeout in her room and I rushed Eva to the bathroom and just started cutting away (I swear I had a real like Anxiety attack yesterday....if that wasn't an Anxiety attack, then I feel bad for people who have anxiety, because I was a mess!!) Eva sat in front of the mirror just a grinning away at the whole situation, she thought it was great!

Well, it looked like crap and there was nothing I could do. Thank goodness I had pulled the sides of Eva's hair up earlier that morning, because Isa took the scissors and chopped some spots clear up above Eva's ear. So, we can at least hide some of the disaster areas with the top layers.

We asked the girls to come back outside and pick up the mess. This is where they thought it was hysterical. They went back into their tunnel and grabbed the hair and dropped it down the slide and watched it slide down....they were cracking up hysterically. I looked at Chris and said, "Holy crap that's a lot of hair"....just as I said that they made another trip back for more hair, and then another trip back for more hair...and it just kept piling up.....here is the proof

Now this is only part of the hair, there was lots more on the grass, and then of course all the hair I had to cut off. Can you tell by Eva's grin-she thinks the whole think is pretty funny?

So today, I woke up and I realized it is what it is, what can I do? So, I decided to straighten her hair and re-cut, to make it look as decent as possible for church. As I sat there cutting it, Eva kept saying, "I love my hair." Eva LOVES her new hair do, and I have to admit, it's slowly growing on me. Oh goodness, everyone says I will look back in 10 years and laugh. Let's hope so!

Here's the picture I took today after I got it all cut. I have to admit, I think she still looks pretty darn cute, even without those curls!

Man....our kids sure add excitement to this little family!

What are sisters for? I didn't have one so my cousin cut mine. I've been hearing a lot of stories lately of little girls cutting their own hair. It must be a right of passage or something. And she does adorable with her new do!

It does look very cute! I think every person needs a hair cut from their sister at some point in their life :)

GOSH! I think it is darling. I think I would have an anxiety attack too though if that happened to me!

You did a great job cleaning it up- she looks darling!!! I have dreaded an incident like this since I have had my gals. I cut my sisters bangs off the day my grandpa died. My mom was down at my grandparents house and my dad was watching us and I took my sister in the other room and massacred her hair. So not only was my mom devastated by the shock of her dad dying- then she came home to that.

She looks A-DORABLE! I love the cut. I agree, she look so much older with that new do. Hallie took the scissors to her hair once (not nearly as much as Eva's was cut) but I remember getting pretty worked up over it too. My girls are just bald for a good year so when I get any hair on their heads I want it to stay!

She looks just too darn cute for words! Glad you could eventually laugh at it! Just as you turn your back...There's always something to keep mom's going, that's for sure.

Its a painful thing isn't it/! but look how adorable it looks!! I mean at least she didn't try to cut her some bangs at the scalp right?! zoey cut her own hair once when it was in french braid. I was glad it was in a frenchbraid and she aimed for the back. She cut a chunk right to the scalp.. Luckily when her hair was down you couldn't see it.. rascally kids. they sure keep our heart racin don't they??? she looks adorable..and you have a memory to go with it!
